Ads Gone Bad .. and Why!

Ad 1: A Big No No

Sometimes I get an ad and say to myself: “What were they smokin’?”

Here’s our 1st example. I got this insert from an extremely reputable mail order vitamin shop, one of the tops in the industry.

I have no idea if the companies are affiliated or not.

But here’s the ad:

No No !

What in the name of thunder were they thinking?

Why on earth would any sane individual name their product NO! NO!

You look at the offer, and all you see is an ocean of no’s.

Anyone with even a smattering of advertising sense wants the prospect to be thinking and saying YES!

But when reading the copy, what command is being implanted in the customer’s mind?

C’mon… this isn’t difficult… yep! You got it… it’s… NO!

Meaning, no thank you… I’m not in the mood to part with my cash right now.

Or more succinctly – No sale.

Imagine all the marketing and advertising people who had to give thumbs up to this. And not one of them realizing what would happen.

Like I said, what were they smokin’?
